Once you have crossed STEP 1 as per my last post and have identified your end goal or target job it is time for
STEP 2 is to interview and ask yourself questions to see if a position is a fit or too much of a stretch for you.
Here are a few pertinent questions or situations to ponder upon:
🎯 Ask yourself when you see your resume as a hiring manager, are you excited about setting up a screening call with yourself or are you hesitant to “take a chance” on what you have?
🎯 Ask yourself are you able to answer in-depth interview questions with nitty gritty answers for all job duties excluding the use of company specific systems and tool?
🎯 Ask yourself considering your current situation (employed or unemployed), how does it match the job description?
🎯 Ask yourself if your are excited to set up a pre-interview project and try to do the job before you are hired, to check if you like it or can you even do it?
🎯 Ask yourself do I actually want to be doing what’s described in the job description on a day-to-day basis?
🎯 Ask yourself do I meet their mandatory or must have requirements ?
🎯 Ask yourself do I have the transferrable skills from past experience that I can translate into the new job description and embed it on my resume?
🎯 Ask yourself does the role fit into your long-term career plans or are you eyeing a stop gap arrangement?
🎯 Ask yourself do you meet the requirements? Are you over- or under-qualified for the role?
🎯 Ask yourself what do you know about the company culture?
