Putting a number on your accomplishments as Fresher or in a Support Role!

I was recently asked ‘What if someone is early in their career and they had roles that were supportive in nature, how do you then mention the metrics or numbers on their resumes’

Achievement doesn’t necessarily mean that it should be tangible. It may also be intangible in the form of a reflection, thought or learning, collaboration, leadership from projects, paper submissions, events etc.

The trick is to think and add a ‘why’, ‘how’ and ‘results’ to each of your accomplishments

Some examples

In a support role, you can showcase:

? why and how you did something that resulted in improved profit margin by xx % within x months.

? why and how trained that resulted in improved efficiency of the team by xx%.

? why and how you reengineered the filing process bringing about xx% faster retrieval.

As a fresher, you can showcase:

? why and how you coordinated as the events management committee leading to xx% success of the event.

? why and how you represented the college in competitions bringing in xx different accolades year on year.

? why and how you conducted anti-ragging campaign bringing awareness to xxx students.

Remember your accomplishments may not necessarily have to come from paid employment, it can come from internships, events, volunteer activities, personal learning etc.
