⛓️ LinkedIn is an application with algorithms it works on keywords. Hence, the most important aspect of the LinkedIn profile is the keywords that you strategically fill in your profile across and how you optimize your visibility settings.
⛓️ First things first, keep your display picture on LinkedIn as professional as possible. Keep it simple formal and clear with a good background. It is the first step towards a good impression to the recruiters/potential employers.
⛓️ Keep your headline to the point. If you are working keep the title of the job as your headline followed by the title that closely matches the job you are searching for and/or another strategy is use keywords or a few important skills that you possess.
⛓️ Fill out your profile including the about me section, work experience, awards and achievements, skills, etc. A complete profile ranks above when searched for certain keywords and generates interest among the recruiters.
⛓️ Connect with the people who are hiring ( HR or otherwise). Talk to them. Prepare your questions firsthand. Send them a professional text consisting of not more than 4 questions in the first message. Ask them about the role you are interested in and your future career path only after building a quick conversation relevant to them.
⛓️ Follow the company pages of the target Industry and set the notifications/ job alerts to receive as soon as the company posts a job on LinkedIn. Be among the first few people to apply for the job. Moreover, in some cases, the hiring manager’s or HR’s profile is mentioned below. Connect with them and ask about the job function and day-to-day responsibilities.
⛓️ While applying, look who has posted the job or whom you are connected to within the company. Even look for alumni connections and then reach out to them for a referral.
⛓️ Stay up to date with your industry or domain trends and post content regularly, even if it’s once a week, but make sure that it’s relevant and adds value to others in your connections.
Trust me, if you follow the above consistently and strategically use the keywords in your profile, then within months you might land a job.
