Career Switch Mistakes!

My client who was keen to switch her career to a new domain altogether was not getting any response to their application or was only getting internship opportunities without pay.

After some dialogue, this is what we found were the red flags:

? She had posted and featured her Résumé on LinkedIn, which means the document was public and could be downloaded literally by anyone, and by doing this she was giving up the advantage of tailoring her Résumé to a specific role and employer.

? By posting the Résumé in public she had announced her job search to the world and therefore was allowing organizations to consider her with a pay cut or internships with no pay.

? She was underselling herself by discounting her past experience completely in her Résumé as she had unintentionally conveyed that she needed her new employer to train her from scratch.

? She had simply listed her past jobs and responsibilities on her Résumé, leading the recruiter to focus too much on the jobs themselves versus the skills she gained that can be transferred to the new role.
