Using job portals like Naukri, LinkedIn, and other job sites with numerous one-click applications is the standard way in which most people apply for jobs. In general, job seekers download job portal apps, glance through job postings, and click on easy apply. Another method is to create job alerts or wait for the app bot to suggest jobs to you, but this is not a 100% foolproof method since what it really does is read through your resume, pick out keywords, and then suggest jobs based on them, just as it suggests resumes for recruiters.
Though this approach can work, it is usually the one with the most competitiveness as it is a very traditional method of applying.
It is usually possible to find another way to approach most jobs that no one else is doing & most people are unaware of, which will increase your chances.Finding it may take some time, but once you do, you aren’t in competition with anyone. The key is to think outside the box and be creative. Here are some insights on alternative methods of finding a job:
💡 Identify the hiring manager and reach out to him or her.
💡 Try finding internal connections to the hiring manager, who can refer you.
💡 Send the hiring manager or decision-maker a demonstration of what you can bring to the table.
💡 Send them relevant resumes you have sourced for any open positions or create a hiring strategy that would fit their industry if you’re applying for a recruiter role.
💡 Consider having an informational interview with the hiring manager
💡 Leverage your alumni network to get employees to refer you.
💡 Produce content, publications, postings, etc on LinkedIn that may attract potential employers.
💡 Your resume & cover letter should be tailored to every job you apply for and explain exactly how you fit into what they need.
💡 Find niche job boards to apply on, specific to your industry & location rather than mass sites such as Naukri, Monster, etc.
💡 Participate in networking events, forums, etc, and network.
💡 Conduct intelligence gathering or extensively research a company and its problem statement, before submitting your resume as a proposal to solve that.
