Have you ever met someone who hates planning things ahead? They just prefer not knowing what they’ll do the next day. Thinking that the unknown is what makes their day exciting. No matter how important events are, they think any sort of planning is not necessary.
I recently spoke to a client just like that, who called me frantically for a quick fix resume that she needed.
Apparently, she was living her life with no plans whatsoever. Then when she was randomly browsing through a job advertising site, she saw the perfect position at a company she’d always wanted to work at and to her luck she was able to speak to the recruiter, they exchanged notes and the recruiter felt she was a great fit and asked her to send across her resume so that they may fix a meeting with the hiring manager to wrap it up quickly.
Unfortunately, she had not invested time to plan and prepare her resume and I don’t do quick fixes and don’t recommend one too. She was paralyzed. Feeling sad and guilty for losing the opportunity of a lifetime.
She even sent a really long email to the recruiter to apologize and explain that she needs some time, but it was too late, that’s when she really started questioning her lifestyle. Was she doing things the right way? Was it even really worth not having a plan all the time?
