HOW TO ASSESS WHEN YOU SHOULD LEAVE YOUR JOB

Knowing when to quit a job requires a great deal of critical thinking. If you can’t work it out at your old job, when your efforts fail, and/or the job no longer serves your interests such as salary, benefits, location, professional development, work-life balance, conducive work, supportive manager/management and/or safe environment, then there is probably no point in continuing.

However, before you quit, you need to analyse & think through these:

❓Are you stagnating playing the same role over and over again without any new learning?

❓Are you in “Golden handcuffs” – when you manage to maintain your position, but are under more stress & have to do the work of multiple people?

❓Are you experiencing physical and emotional exhaustion?

❓Do you feel burned out?

❓Do you feel a loss of empathy and a lack of connection to your job?

❓Are you unable to deliver no matter how hard you try?

❓Are you happy with WFH and do not want to go back to the office environment?

❓Do you often think about where you are & feel unsatisfied?

❓Is your purpose missing?

❓Do you dislike the management that will not change any time soon?

❓Are you not able to move up the ladder, even though you deserve it?

❓Are you crying in the shower every morning? No job is worth that.

❓Is your commute killing you?

❓Do you want better benefits and perks?

❓Are you not seeing any growth for yourself in the company?

❓Does your company lack the vision and is not up-to-date with technology?

❓Is there a restructure and/or merger & you sense lay-offs?

Before you quit, you need to ask yourself:

Is this any of these reasons really quit-worthy, or am I just reacting to a temporary situation?

What are the risks and what are the consequences?
