Communicating using a strong and active voice enhances your chances to connect better!

Use strong and active voice in your communication emails, especially if you are trying to connect and build your network online. Using phrases like ‘I think’, ‘sorry’ ‘kind of’ or ‘maybe ‘ perceives you as less confident. Here are some phrase examples:

❌”I’m no expert but I think we maybe should do…” ✅”We definitely should do…” or “I recommend we do…”

❌”I’m so sorry for the delay…”  ✅”Thank you for your patience”

❌”I just wanted to check in about…”  ✅”When can I expect an update “

❌”Sorry for contacting you out of the blue” ✅“It’s nice to e-meet you”

❌ “What time works best for you…” ✅ “Could you do xx:xx”

❌ “No problem/ no worries”✅ “Happy to Help”

❌ “I think maybe we should” ✅“I’d be best if we…”

❌ “Hopefully, this makes sense” ✅“Let me know if you have any further questions”

❌ “Ah sorry, I missed that” ✅“Appreciate you letting me know”

❌ “Do you think I could possibly ….” ✅“I will need ….”

Sometimes rather than struggling to put words together on email, it’s better to write “let’s discuss this in person”
