  1. Improve your language skills- this is probably the most undermined skill, but communication is the key for you to be able to articulately market yourself. No matter which role, communication is always primary, if not at least a welcome supplement skill.
  2. Get certified – Certifications supplement your existing knowledge and also shows that you are upskilling, ready, and relevant. This does not mean free courses on the internet, remember free has no value.
  3. Network as much as possible – have you heard the saying ‘It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. 
  4. Volunteer – People with volunteer experience are seen as holistic individuals by companies and you can connect your volunteer experiences with your transferable skills.
  5. Build an updated professional online profile – on LinkedIn, other job portals, professional forums, and engage actively on the platform irrespective of whether you are looking to make a career move or not. This also helps you to stay up to date on the market trends.
  6. Get your resume updated – Investing in making a professionally written resume has way more rewards than you can think of!
